Dear Godās beloved Praying Priests, shalom!
š ā One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, āLord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.ā āĀ (Luk 11:1)
š ā If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!ā (Luk 11:3)
š ā In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.ā (Rom 8:26)
If we followed Yeshua for three years and witnessed many miracles and wonders right on the spot, we would probably ask Him, ā Lord, teach us how to do this and how to do that!ā However, the disciples discovered that Yeshua did everything through prayers, and His prayer life was different and alive! Therefore, they asked Him, ā Lord, teach us to pray!ā
āLord, teach us to prayā is a very short prayer with only five words, but it can be the most humble yet powerful prayer to transform our lives radically! No one knows how to pray, and no one can teach us how to pray. We are learning to pray under the influence and leading of the Holy Spirit, so we may pray more effectively.
This week as we interceding for our Indigenous Ministry Partners in both Central Asia and Israel, let us start with this simple yet powerful prayer together. ā Lord, teach us to pray!ā
