💞 Dear Royal Praying Priests, shalom!
💎 “Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law.” (Psa 119:18)
💎 “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people.” (Eph 1:18)
20/20 vision is a term used to indicate normal visual acuity. It is often heard in the offices of optometrists, eye doctors or vision specialists. Someone with 20/20 vision can see clearly at 20 feet what should be normally seen at that distance. Therefore, no glasses or vision correction is needed. If someone has 20/40 vision, he or she has to stand as close as 20 feet to see what others with normal vision can see at a distance of 40 feet. Therefore, the vision of 20/40 eyes is half as good as the normal vision. If for any reason we are not able to see well, our optometrist will run a comprehensive eye examination and prescribe glasses, contact lenses or vision therapy program to improve our vision.
If our physical vision needs to be corrected, how about our spiritual vision?
Yeshua speaks about our faulty spiritual vision which is recorded in Luke 6:42.
“How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the speck in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the beam in your own eye? You hypocrite! First take the beam out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly the speck in your brother’s eye, to take it out.” (TLV)
Our “presumably accurate” view of others can be distorted by what is inside of our soul, which blinds us to see the realities of our own lives. Yeshua uses the harsh word ‘hypocrite’ to describe those who criticize and correct others without first dealing with their own errors and sins.
Let us together ask the Lord to open the eyes of our hearts, so we can see things with perfect clarity and sharpness in 2020. Ask Him to remove any pride and arrogance, wrong assumptions, unforgiveness, false teaching, bad information, insecurity, hurts and wounds, fear or idol-worshipping in us, as we desire to see all the wonderful things in His Law and promises. Amen.
