🍞 Manna for Meditation 76

💞 Dear Royal Praying Priests, shalom!

💎 “Bless Adonai, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy Name.” (Psa 103:1, TLV)

בָּרְכִי נַפְשִׁי, אֶת-יְהוָה; וְכָל-קְרָבַי, אֶת-שֵׁם קָדְשׁוֹ

(Barachi nafshi et-Adonai, v’khol-keravai et-shem kodsho.)

If you attended Warriors of the Lamb Revival and Prayer Conferences or watched the conference videos online, you would notice that Rev. Donald Young from College of Prayer International always begins his teaching by leading the congregation to proclaim the above Bible verse. What is the significance of it?

The Hebrew word בּרך (barakh) translated “bless” is related to another Hebrew word בּרך (berekh) “knee”. To bless literally means to bend the knee for presenting a gift. To bless God is an act of adoration. In our weakness, we humble ourselves, kneel before God, open our eyes to His grace, care and provision, recognise His blessedness, and receive blessing and strength from Him.

Have you ever wondered, how can we human beings possibly bless God if He is great and perfect in all His ways? Doesn’t Hebrew 7:7 say that “and without doubt the lesser is blessed by the greater”?

When we declare a blessing, we are simply praising God, honouring His name and gratefully recognising Him as the giver of blessing. We are actually saying, “Blessed are you O Lord our God.” When we bless God, we do not add anything to Him. We are expressing our worship, adoration and gratitude to Him.

Let us bless our God with this beautiful song 10,000 Reasons and worship Him together as our source of life, our joy and our everything!

🙏Dear Heavenly Father, even when the whole world is suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic, we choose to bless Your name with all our soul and all that is within us. Even when the church buildings and services are shut down, we choose to bless Your name with all our soul and all that is within us. We recognise that You alone are God, not the forms of gathering, not the programs of service, and not the venues of worship. We come humbly before You on our knees, and ask You to draw the national leaders, health workers, and those in isolation experiencing fear, anxiety or depression closer to Your Son Yeshua. We give thanks to You. You are above our fears and panics. Your throne is above the floodwaters. Your power flows and You rule the world from Your throne. In the name of Yeshua we pray and bless You, Amen!
